Tea Party Express Applauds Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz Calls to Denounce “Despicable, Deplorable, and Completely Beyond the Pale” Comments
Asks Rep. Wasserman Schultz to refrain from such comments in the future
Sacramento, CA – Tea Party Express, the nation’s largest Tea Party political action committee, applauds calls from Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL) to denounce “despicable, deplorable, and completely beyond the pale” comments. Since the list of Rep. Wasserman Schultz’s own “despicable, deplorable, and completely beyond the pale” comments is long, Tea Party Express has highlighted a few below and is asking her to refrain from such uncivil discourse in the future.
Debbie on the Shooting of Rep. Giffords:
“The discourse in America, the discourse in Congress in particular . . . has really changed, I’ll tell you. I hesitate to place blame, but I have noticed it take a very precipitous turn towards edginess and lack of civility with the growth of the Tea Party movement.”
Debbie on the Tea Party:
“I don’t see any swastikas or any pictures of the President in black face or burned in effigy here. The difference between the way we express our First Amendment rights and the way I’ve seen Tea Party extremists—Republican Tea Party extremists—express their right is dramatically different.”
Debbie on the Ryan Budget:
“We see a clear attempt for the government to back out of its commitment to seniors. As a result, many seniors in America will be forced into poverty, and worse… This plan would literally be a death trap for some seniors.
Debbie on voter ID laws:
“You have the Republicans, who want to literally drag us all the way back to Jim Crow laws and literally — and very transparently — block access to the polls to voters who are more likely to vote for Democratic candidates than Republican candidates.”
Debbie on opposition to raising the debt ceiling:
“This is not leadership. This is almost like dictatorship. I know they want to force the outcome that … their extremists would like to impose. But they are getting ready to spark panic and chaos, and they seem to be OK with that. And it’s just really disappointing, and potentially devastating.”
