Senator Mary Landrieu Rejected Bill Saving Existing Policies in 2010

Sacramento, CA – Tea Party Express, the nation’s largest Tea Party political action committee, said new evidence exposing President Obama’s repeated deceptions about Americans being able to keep their current health insurance policies is further proof the Democrats are seeking political fixes for a flawed law that should be repealed instead. Tea Party Express also criticized the hypocrisy of Senate Democrats, including Senator Mary Landrieu, for unanimously rejecting a Joint Resolution back in 2010 that would have solved the problem of cancelled policies.

Tea Party Express’ Chairman Amy Kremer said, “This week, Senator Landrieu has proven that she is not actually looking out for her constituents’ health needs. Wyoming Senator Mike Enzi put forth legislation in 2010 that would have allowed Americans to keep their coverage since contrary to Obama’s promises, that wasn’t the case. Yet, not one Democrat was willing to stand up and support it. Now that it is election time, Senator Landrieu is scrambling to cover up her flawed record.

“She claims ignorance that millions of Americans would lose their health insurance coverage, but we now have found the specific vote where she was informed of the problem, but voted as a political partisan against the needs of Louisianians. Voters will be aware of her deception in the next election and we can be rid of a Senator who put party and politics ahead of the people.

“More recently, Senators Cruz and Lee, among others, have shown courage in fighting to stop Obamacare,” Kremer said. “It is pathetic the kind of lies and smears the President and members of his party have been able to get away with for so long. Obamacare is failing. It’s time for Democrats in Washington, D.C., to have a reality check. You are there to serve the people, not President Obama and Harry Reid.

“Someone needs to ask Senator Landrieu who is all of a sudden expressing apprehension over Obamacare, ‘What happened in 2010 when you voted against Senate Joint Res. 39?’ The jig is up, come clean to the American people. Obamacare cannot work and it should be repealed and replaced immediately. Neither the economy nor the people can afford it,” Kremer concluded.
