Tea Party Express Disappointed with Murray-Ryan Budget Compromise
Sacramento, CA – Tea Party Express, the nation’s largest Tea Party political action committee, is disappointed in the budget deal that was reached today between Senator Patty Murray and Congressman Paul Ryan.
Tea Party Express’ Chairman Amy Kremer said, “While no one was expecting a grand bargain, we hoped that the budget leaders would stand by the only fiscally responsible accomplishment of Obama’s Presidency: Sequestration. This budget deal creates a faux peace in Washington, D.C., while burdening taxpayers by sweeping the impending fiscal crisis under the rug.
“If the Sequestration was a baby step forward, this is a baby step backward. Americans deserve better than a compromise that continues excessive spending, adding fees in lieu of taxes. The determination of Senate Democrats to increase spending is further evidence that the priority for Tea Party Express should continue to be ending their majority and bringing fiscal sanity to Washington. The problems of unsustainable debt and deficits persist, and this is a continuation of the ‘kick the can down the road’ mentality that has enveloped Congress,” Kremer concluded.
