ELECTION ALERT: Tea Party Express Endorses Senator Susan Collins in Maine

For Immediate Release: September 30, 2020

SACRAMENTO, CA: Tea Party Express, the nation’s largest Tea Party political action committee, is pleased to announce its endorsement of Senator Susan Collins for reelection in Maine.

Tea Party Express Co-Founder and Chief Strategist Sal Russo said, “Senator Collins is well known as one of the hardest working members of the Senate who reaches across the aisle to tackle even the toughest problems. During her four terms in the Senate, she has always placed Maine’s needs above partisan political games, a refreshing contrast to politics as usual in Washington. Mainers need her dedicated leadership now more than ever.

“Since the earliest days of her career when she served as an assistant to former Senator William Cohen, Senator Collins has fought to make Maine a better place to live and work. She has successfully secured federal funds to improve the state’s infrastructure and pushed for commonsense economic and regulatory reforms that create good paying jobs. She has also been a leader in congressional efforts to combat the opioid crisis, which has hit the Pine Tree State particularly hard. The most senior Republican woman in the Senate, she has never missed a single vote during her entire tenure. We need Senator Collins’ tireless leadership to get our economy moving again and clean up the dysfunction and corruption in Washington.

Senator Collins has never been afraid to stand up for what she believes in, even if it is at odds with her own party or the political status quo. That has sometimes earned her the ire of politicians and critics who are more concerned with power than public service, but it has also earned her the support of Mainers who respect her independence and her dedication to serving her constituents. The Democrats know that they must beat Senator Collins in November in order to have a shot at taking control of the Senate, so they are spending millions of out-of-state dollars to win at all costs and secure a consistent party-line vote from liberal Sara Gideon. But we believe the voters will see through their dirty tricks and send the ever-independent Senator Collins back to Washington to continue fighting for Maine,” Russo concluded.
